H&V Announces Wet Laid Microglass Manufacturing Line in Suzhou China
East Walpole, MA September 27, 2006: Hollingsworth & Vose ("H&V") today announces plans to install a
wet-laid microglass manufacturing line in its Suzhou, China mill to serve filtration and battery separator
markets. This investment is part of H&V's Asia Pacific strategy announced in November 2004 to capitalize
on market growth in the region. The machine will produce high quality filter media for HEPA, ULPA, HVAC
and appliance applications; and valve-regulated lead acid ("VRLA") battery separator substrates. H&V's
materials will meet the most demanding standards set by industry leaders.
"We are pleased to implement this second phase of our Asia Pacific strategy. Customers in the region will
benefit from reduced lead times as production will be local, while continuing to receive the highest quality
materials," commented CEO Val Hollingsworth. H&V has been a committed supplier to the cleanroom
market since the 1940's and the battery market since the 1980's. Innovations such as HiPermŽ cleanroom
media and EnergyGuardŽ battery separators are examples of H&V's expertise combining the highest
quality raw materials with unique process knowledge and cutting-edge technology.
Site construction in Suzhou should be completed by year-end 2006, with the previously announced
machine for engine filtration markets to be commissioned in Q1 2007. Engineering for the glass machine is
underway; the line is expected to be operational in early 2008. Slitting, converting and warehousing
operations complement the manufacturing capabilities.
