H&V announces Nickel Coated Carbon Fiber Nonwoven for Lightning Strike Protection
East Walpole, Massachusetts, May 1, 2007: Hollingsworth and Vose announces the production of nickel coated carbon nonwoven materials for lightning strike protection (LSP). This new lightning strike protection technology passed the most severe Zone 1A lighting strike test, distributing the strike test energy across the surface of the test panel without damage to underlying layers. This new lightning strike protection material simplifies the manufacturing and repair process and provides weight and cost advantages over expanded metal mesh. The lightning strike protection product line includes seven Advanced Fiber Nonwoven AFNŽ grades. These highly conductive nonwoven surfacing veils come in a variety of weights and are designed for use in commercial and military composite aerospace and wind energy applications, as well as applications requiring EMI shielding.
The AFN® manufacturing line is located in Hawkinsville, Georgia. The AFN® facility maintains AS 9100 Rev B, QS 9000:1998 and ISO 9001:2000 quality certifications, offers superior service and ships a variety of nonwoven roll goods from stock with short lead times
