Coalescer filters are used primarily in the removal of water from
fuel (water-oil separation) and for separating oil and/or water
from compressed air (gas-liquid separation).
In water-oil separation, the coalescer filter media consists of
a pleated upstream element and wrapped glass fiber blankets down
stream. The pleated elements contain glass fiber papers that are
in some cases impregnated with phenolic resin to withstand high
pressure and vibration.
In gas-liquid separation, it is imperative that oil and particles
are removed from the compressed air stream. The coalescer filter
element uses glass media with fine fiber diameter distribution.
This leads to a reduced amount of oil penetrating the filter material.
Air velocity through the media also must be low enough to ensure
proper filtration.
H&V manufactures a complete line of cellulose and glass coalescer
filter products. Glass filtration is available in Base Media, One-Side
Laminated, and Two-Side Laminated products.
