Can a wet-laid nonwoven meet the new technical demands of wallcovering producers for both residential and commercial applications?

Borrowing technology from papermaking, textile production, and film manufacturing, HollTek engineered nonwoven “fabrics” have been specifically developed for the wallcovering industry. H&V technologists recognized that today’s interior decorators are placing rigorous demands on wallcovering products. Commercial and institutional customers in the hospitality, government, educational, and health care markets require environmentally friendly wallcoverings. These materials must be easily disposable and should not contain materials that support mold and mildew growth – a growing health concern. In addition, residential and do-it-yourself customers want wallcoverings that are dimensionally stable, hang easily, and strip effortlessly during redecorating. And wallcovering manufacturers want substrates that do not require expensive and time-consuming coating and laminating processes.

Developed with proprietary technology from H&V, HollTek wallcovering substrates are direct printable nonwovens that remove the need for coating or laminating other materials, such as vinyl, to the substrate. The environmentally friendly material is PVC-free, with a permeability rating that significantly exceeds the government’s requirements to prevent mold and mildew growth. HollTek substrate offers exceptional dimensional stability, making the wallcovering fast, easy, and more accurate to hang. The product line offers grades that are designed to dry-hang (paste-the-wall) or can be pre-pasted without the use of specially formulated, high-priced paste. And whether you paste-the-wall or use prepaste, HollTek material dry-strips every time, removing the nightmare of redecorating.

HollTek material is delivered to the wallcovering producer ready to print on all of the platforms used in the industry: surface, flexo, roto-screen, or rotogravure. H&V has also used HollTek technology to develop coating substrates that can accept acrylic, plastisol, or other print ready coatings, while preserving dimensional stability and stripability.

HollTek substrate is available through the company’s sales agent, Perfect Color LLC at (203) 509-2933 or perfectcol@aol.com.
