SUMMARY:

To supervise and coordinate activities of production crew (including offshift mechanics, electricians, shipping and receiving, and QC technicians) in a way that ensures consistent application of contracts, policy and procedure, so that production schedules are met, worker safety and quality/productivity are maximized, and a work environment that enhances participation in achieving plant goals is obtained. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews process and QA data on an ongoing basis to verify conformance to specifications, and oversees setup and start-up of processes.  Must learn the process controls and Wonderware system.
  • Applies company policies, administers applicable provisions of labor agreements, and ensures compliance with work, safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
  • Studies production schedules and establishes worker assignments.  When necessary, calls in employees to fill vacancies.
  • Tests for adequate job training, assists workers in solving work problems, and conducts employee qualification reviews.
  • Assures time and production records are accurate.
  • Confers with other supervisors or Crew Leaders (EDM, Shipping and Receiving, Maintenance) to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Works with crews in problem solving techniques and continuous improvement goals to increase effectiveness of the plant.
  • Writes work instructions.
  • Participates in decisions regarding hiring, promotion, demotion, suspension, and discharge of members of the group.
  • Plans, assigns, directs, and provides leadership for the work of crews on production machines or processes within area of responsibility.
  • Arranges for necessary supplies, facilities, and tools and equipment (personal protective equipment, etc.) to enable the work to be performed.
  • Performs all functions inherent to supervisory/managerial jobs.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Other related duties as assigned or required.
  • This job is supervising the off shifts and weekends. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Required Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college, university or technical school; or 3-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Required valid Oregon driver’s license.
  • Required ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Required ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Required ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Preferred training in managing people, personnel communication, constructive confrontation, coaching and discipline, and principles of SPC.
  • Preferred certification and application of LEAN processing tools a plus.

SUMMARY:
The Senior R&D Technician provides assistance to Technology (Research & Development) staff in the testing, analysis, and reporting of new material development in conjunction with product development efforts undertaken in the laboratory, pilot plant facilities and production machines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Extensive hands-on experimental work in lab environment
• Prepare fibrous/chemical mixtures in the laboratory and produce handsheets of experimental prototypes
• Perform physical, analytical and chemical testing on raw materials, and new product prototypes according to specified test procedures
• Record and summarize test data and observations from product and raw material testing. Formats computer spreadsheet and provides other computerized documentation of lab experiments and result
• Should be comfortable with safely handling laboratory chemicals and materials including sulfuric acid and lead
• Build lead acid battery prototypes in the lab. Disassemble the prototypes after testing
• Good computer skills are required. This role will monitor battery testing using different testing software

SUMMARY:

Ability to work with a team of highly motivated electrical professionals to install, calibrate, document, and maintain plant distribution and process control systems in a way that provides reliable repairs and installations that are critical to the plant’s operating success. The Production Worker is an entry level, production position in our West Groton, MA manufacturing plant. They operate, assist, and support paper machine operations. This involves working with high speed, continuous process equipment and forklift operation.

The Senior Energy/Project Engineer will manage the New York sites’ energy consumption to ensure that the company delivers year over year energy reduction and will develop standards, best practices, and identify projects to reduce the company’s energy footprint in terms of MMBTU per ton of finished production.  This position will oversee energy and other associated projects at the New York sites and will perform audits for compliance to company standards in the area of energy efficiency.

  • Performs facility engineering assessments, leverages experience to collect relevant technical data, and engages operations & maintenance to assemble project files with field notes and data.
  • Uses technical and industry expertise to identify no-cost measures, commissioning measures, and turnkey energy projects with a complete technical basis and build business cases.

The Production Operator will be mainly be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our industrial paper manufacturing machines, preparing stock and resin and material finishing. 

This position requires:

  • High school diploma or GED.

SUMMARY:

Support Supply Chain sourcing projects that allow H&V to purchase high quality products and services at market prices. Manage day to day purchase order activity and provide support to mills/R&D to locate sources of raw materials/services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support corporate Supply Chain team with management of raw materials
  • Develop strategies to gather spend data, consolidate supply base, and leverage opportunities to improve H&V’s position in indirect spend
  • Negotiate with supply base to generate savings and improve the quality of supplied products and services
  • Work with H&V mills to aggregate forecast information for key raw material requirements and communicate to supply base in a timely manner
  • Identify potential sources of high quality products and services at market prices
  • Develop Requests for Quotations and Requests for Information
  • Monitor and ensure day-to-day availability of raw materials at East Walpole location. Lead contact for East Walpole purchasing
  • Build, execute, and track sourcing project plans designed to reduce costs or improve availability
  • Conduct post bid follow up activities/analysis and communicate bid results
  • Adjust corporate contracts/purchase orders upon change in pricing
  • Map current state end to end procurement process and look for opportunities to standardize
  • Help to develop innovative solutions, approaches, methodologies that address present and future supply chain requirements.
  • Maintain scorecard of results and metrics

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance, Operations, General Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management
  • Experience in purchasing/commodity management of 3-5 years
  • Computer hardware and software knowledge -Microsoft office suite—Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint

SUMMARY:

The Senior Commodity Manager is responsible for developing, establishing, and executing optimal commodity & sourcing strategies. This leader will establish & enhance Supplier relationships through skillful negotiating and relationship development to drive sourcing & supplier initiatives to meet or exceed product quality, service & deliver sustainable cost reductions, and reduce risk in the Supply Chain. Responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders globally and aligning on optimal sourcing strategies to develop and implement a Commodity Strategy for the assigned category.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategically manage raw materials spend; ensure quality, sourcing and commodity strategies are in place, competitively priced and compliant with any laws/regulations and working capital levels meet or exceed corporate objectives
    • Identify raw material sourcing strategies, negotiate pricing and delivery to ensure uninterrupted flow of raw material to H&V facilities through effective supply base management
    • Develop and execute strategies to leverage purchases globally
    • Gather information, analyze data, prepare and lead negotiations as well as deliver recommendations
    • Lead supplier identification, approval, contract/pricing negotiations and vendor relations
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and manage cost reduction activities to achieve 5% annual cost reduction goal with supply chain leadership, utilizing a formal strategic sourcing process
    • Utilize strategic sourcing and total cost analysis strategies to drive suppliers and spend including online auctions to effectively manage the commodities.
    • Identify alternate suppliers, coordinate qualification trails and supplier workshops with key suppliers
    • Gain supplier involvement in supplier management to drive continuous improvement and productivity.
  • Develop and manage commodity buyers/commodity managers
  • Influence and cooperate with people of different levels inside/outside the company and to interact with team to reach team goals and business objectives
    • Collect and analyze market and supplier data, develop sourcing options for review and concurrence by the applicable business unit, and implement approved strategies timely to capture savings and value to the business
    • Ability to take full responsibility for decisions & results even when all elements are not under individual direct control
    • Lead cross-functional team(s) in the identification of alternative products and suppliers, facilitate qualification trials, and conduct supplier management to drive continuous improvement
  • Develop implementation plans and drive proposed system and process improvements in procurement and sourcing initiatives for efficiency
  • Other related duties as assigned or required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA degree required.  MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of seven (10+) years experience in raw material sourcing and procurement, preferably in engineered papers and nonwovens related industry
  • Excellent background in supplier management, commodity strategy development/execution, contract negotiations and manufacturing operations
  • Thorough knowledge of suppliers globally and global sourcing strategies; including low cost country sourcing experience, good knowledge of energy and logistic markets
  • Initiative and drive
  • Ability to deliver time-pressured projects on-time and on-quality
  • Excellent financial acumen, ability to analyze budgets, international exchange rates, and financial ramifications of contracts and the ability to measure success and show results in bottom line.
