SUMMARY:

The Technician provides assistance to Technology staff in the testing, analysis, and reporting of new material development in conjunction with product development efforts undertaken in the laboratory, pilot plant, and production facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare fibrous/chemical mixtures in the laboratory and produce experimental media prototypes.
  • Perform physical, chemical testing on raw materials, product prototypes and commercial materials according to specified test procedures.
  • Assist in the construction of small test devices for new applications.
  • Reviews and modifies test methods to ensure accurate and useful data.
  • Assists with machine trials, monitoring checkpoints and collecting samples and data.
  • Assists with pilot paper machine trials for product development.
  • Performs applications on media test stands and oversees their maintenance and calibration.
  • Formats computer spreadsheet programs and provides other computerized documentation of lab experiments and results.
  • Formulates standardized reports, as required.
  • Maintains laboratory notebook.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or equivalent experience.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1‐5 years’ experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in math and science, with mechanical or chemical aptitude.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work requires repetitive motion of arms/hands, standing for prolonged period, performing frequent bending and twisting motions, lifting of light weight objects, which may potentially result in musculoskeletal stresses.
  • Steady hands and dexterity to perform tasks repeatedly and accurately.
  • Work performed in laboratory environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Work performed in production area with potential exposure to large equipment/machinery and loud noises.

SUMMARY:

The Business Systems Analyst – Operations partners with Operations and Quality  leaders and their team to analyze and improve work processes by leveraging information technological systems and services. The BSA will work on requirements definition, vendor management and implementation for our Quality and  Manufacturing systems.  In addition, s/he will provide support for our existing Oracle platform and a variety of manufacturing applications used in these business processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work as part of a cross-functional (IT and Quality Operations) and cross geographical team to drive business performance in H&V.
  • Gather and facilitate alignment on global business requirements and priorities for the purpose of supporting the launch of the Quality functions within our manufacturing platform
  • Take a lead role guiding H&V as we evaluate and select new applications to support our business functions.
  • Provide technical and functional support to our implementation partners and vendors.
  • Key functional architect for the integration of Qualtiy and Operations systems with other enterprise systems, services, and suppliers.
  • Production Support for Qualtiy and Labelling systems, including researching and resolving problems; supporting scheduled activities; and recommending solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements.
  • Recommend process improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy that must be approved by appropriate leadership prior to implementation.
  • Develop specifications, assist in development, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries using appropriate reporting tools.
  • Assist Quality and Operations teams with the development of user procedures, guidelines and documentation for IT systems.
  • Develop and provide training on new IT systems, processes and functionality.
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in Manufacturing systems. Participate in local user group meetings/conferences.
  • Ensure all IT systems meet the data privacy requirements of H&V locations.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least five years of proven results oriented work experience in IT or Quality Operations functions.
  • Experience in a leading or key contributor role in selection, implementation, and support of cloud based IT systems.
  • One to two years of successful experience leading IT projects.
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum) methodologies preferred. 
  • Experience in Manufacturing  
  • Excellent communications skills. 
  • Proven decision making skills and the ability to defend those decisions.

SUMMARY:

The Center of Excellence Leader is an expert in the field of energy.  Person is responsible for developing standards, best practices, and identifying projects to reduce the company’s energy footprint in terms of MMBTU per ton of finished production.  This person is responsible for overseeing the energy projects at all sites and for auditing all sites for compliance to company standards in the area of energy efficiency.  The Energy COE will manage the network of mill energy leads to ensure that the company delivers year over year energy reduction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identification of Energy Savings Projects and their execution where necessary throughout the company. 
  • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of records on energy consumption and reporting results to upper management.
  • Establishing standards for Energy Equipment and Procedures.
  • Support the effort at all sites towards ISO50001 certification as the H&V energy platform.
  • Auditing of individual sites as necessary to ensure best practices and procedures are being followed, as well as to help identify areas where efficiency can be improved.
  • Individual is expected to stay up to date with the latest technology available for the reduction in Energy consumption.
  • Individual is expected to have an understanding of the latest rules and regulations as it relates to energy consumption and possible rebates that would be available to the company.
  • Resource for the mills when they have ideas or problems in the area of energy management.
  • Provide training and literature to the energy network on the latest technologies or opportunities.
  • Must be able to work in the mills and follow all pertinent safety regulations.  This includes but is not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, etc.
  • Understanding of the safety rules as it relates to the management of outside contractors.
  • Must be able to work in an ITAR controlled mill.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or higher. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the areas of energy capital projects and energy management.
  • Ability to work with operators and mill personnel to solve problems related to energy management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to climb stairs and supervise work in fairly tight areas.
  • Considerable time spent sitting to review and modify drawings.
  • Ability to work in and around the operating equipment safely.

SUMMARY:

Ability to work with a team of highly motivated electrical professionals to install, calibrate, document, and maintain plant distribution and process control systems in a way that provides reliable repairs and installations that are critical to the plant’s operating success. The successful candidate must have the ability to perform all installations and maintenance in a way that insures their own safety and the safety of plant personnel from electrical hazards.  This position is a Non-Exempt Union position after 120 days of hire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, promotes, and implements effective communications with all internal customers (manufacturing, shipping, laboratory personnel).  
  • Installs conduit and wiring per N.E.C. and building codes for new installations of equipment, power systems, and control systems.
  • Connects, tests, and calibrates machinery, controls, and instrumentation as required by the process.
  • Tests, calibrates, diagnoses, and repairs power distribution, machine operation, and instrumentation.  Diagnose and repair process system malfunctions.
  • Maintains an efficient, clean shop and insures the work area is left in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Receives work instructions from supervision.
  • Observes and inspects conditions of products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Complies with safety, environmental, and quality requirements established by external and internal regulations.
  • Adheres to general and key job related ISO quality system procedures as defined through company Quality documents.
  • Assists Process Control Technician when needed.
  • Lays out and designs simple electrical circuitry.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years experience as a journeyman electrician in an industrial plant.  
  • Experience in PLC/IO and variable frequency drives.
  • Demonstrated skills in the installation, calibration and testing of industrial electrical and electronic equipment, including programmable controllers and electronic drives.
  • Proficiency in reading wiring diagrams and blueprints, and the use of mathematics for calculation of electrical installation and trouble shooting.
  • Experience in instrumentation desirable.
  • Must be willing and able to be trained in plants systems to improve needed knowledge

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position requires physical activity for most of the shift including walking, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting no more than 50 lbs.
  • This position will be in the machine environment most of the time and can reach high ambient temperatures in some operating conditions.
  • This position requires rotating shifts and weekend work.

SUMMARY:

The Environmental Manager is responsible for coordinating and enabling site compliance activities in the areas of air, water, chemical and waste management. They provide environmental services and support for H&V two MA manufacturing sites that ensure sound business practices and environmental compliance. This includes monitoring the MA H&V owned dams and landfills. They accurately interpret applicable rules, regulations, laws and policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and direct support to coordinate and implement facility environmental programs, projects, and other compliance activities. 
  • Develop and implement strategies and programs targeted at continuous improvement in environmental and sustainability performance, culture, and cost reduction.
  • Compile and track environmental metrics. This includes samplings, analysis, testing, and recordkeeping.
  • Tracks environmental obligations for the West Groton and East Walpole sites and prepares documentation for submittal to regulatory agencies as required (reporting, permitting, correspondence, etc.).
  • Conducts compliance inspections to evaluate and if needed correct performance.
  • Communicates requirements, delivers guidance and provides environmental training to site personnel.
  • Develops and maintains compliance calendar in order to track environmental obligations and compliance.
  • Identify methods to reduce air emissions, waste to landfill, wastewater discharges, and chemical usage.
  • Monitors governmental and non-governmental organizations for new rules, regulations, laws and policies applicable to the specific area.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.
  • Defines and assesses procedural, compliance and financial impacts of applicable new rules, regulations, laws and policies.
  • Works with internal and external environmental auditors during formal audit processes to ensure prompt follow-through and appropriate protocol changes based on audit findings.
  • Attends public hearings, public meetings and other forums if required.
  • Oversees monitoring and management of company owned MA landfills and dams.
  • Ability to work in fast paced working environment with multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • Other related duties as assigned or required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing a robust environmental management program.
  • Certification as a Toxic Use Reduction (TUR) Planner. 
  • Landfill management experience.
  • Experience with Combined Heat & Power (CHP) a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety rules and policies.
  • Computer skills; including MS Office Suite and Oracle.
  • Have the ability to coach and interact with others in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
  • WWTP operator license 4M or higher or have capability to obtain it.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work involves exposure to environments with high levels of heat, noise, and industrial equipment.
  • Have the ability to frequently sit at a computer workstation for long periods of time.
  • Have the ability to walk and stand extensively wearing the appropriate PPE.
  • Have the ability to occasionally lift objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Have the ability to regularly climb ladders, stepladders, stairs, and walk on elevated surfaces during a shift.
  • Have the stamina to stand and flexibility to stretch/reach repetitively during the work day.
  • Have the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
