Hollingsworth & Vose Company and Midwest Textiles Reach Agreement to Produce and Distribute Embroidery Materials and Industrial Specialties

East Walpole, MA – July 17, 2020 – Today Hollingsworth and Vose Company and Midwest Textiles established a Master Distribution Agreement to support the long-term growth of Embroidery Materials and other Specialty Products.  Under the agreement, H&V will supply Midwest with the leading materials in the industry, and Midwest will use their specialty converting and nationwide distribution network to reach this complex and growing market.

Josh Ayer, Division President of H&V’s Engine and Industrial business, said, “This agreement will enable H&V to focus on our core strengths of developing and manufacturing the most advanced materials, while utilizing Midwest’s proven distribution expertise to provide the service and reach we need to grow sustainably for the foreseeable future.  We believe that combining the strengths of our two companies will create value for customers and give us a competitive edge in this growing market.”

Larry Pratte, President of Midwest Textiles, said, “This agreement with H&V gives Midwest Textiles the scale to compete effectively anywhere in the country while maintaining and improving the individualized service that has made us what we are today.  This agreement complements our recent investments in converting and distribution and ensures a secure supply of the best materials in the business as we plan our growth for a new generation.”

This broad-based Distribution Agreement follows a joint effort by the two companies earlier this year to sell ready-to-sew face mask kits to the general public that include Midwest’s Fabric and H&V’s filtration media.  This new agreement establishes an ongoing distribution platform that could eventually support expansion into additional products and markets.

H&V Develops New Material for Non-Surgical Medical Gowns

H&V develops a new material to meet growing demand for non-surgical medical gowns during COVID-19

The manufacturer accelerated its R&D process to fast track production for frontline health workers.

East Walpole, MA – June 11, 2020 – Looking to help meet the critical need for Personal Protective Equipment for healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, global manufacturer Hollingsworth & Vose has, on a rapidly accelerated timeline, developed a new material for non-surgical medical gowns.

Using standard construction methods, this new material can be converted into medical gowns for healthcare workers in hospitals, nursing homes and other medical facilities. The material meets stringent testing including the AATCC 42 impact penetration and AATCC 127 hydrostatic pressure tests. Its origin stems from a COVID-19 related task force that H&V convened at the start of the pandemic to see how the company could expand production and help meet the shortage of medical grade PPE. H&V works across industries, including in medical, automotive, energy, power generation, and air quality.

“H&V had already been manufacturing critical materials used in the fight against COVID-19, including filtration media for N95 respirators, ventilator filtration media and the materials used in surgical hoods, so it made sense for us to see how else we might be able to meet the needs of healthcare workers on the frontlines,” Jeff Crane, Segment Leader at H&V.

“Accelerating our research and development process, partnering with companies that provide third party testing and pulling expertise from different industries we serve allowed us to quickly develop this new material in just a matter of weeks and begin supplying it to gown manufacturers that are facing shortages due to the pandemic,” added Crane.

Customers for the new material include a mix of existing H&V customers as well as new customers who are helping to meet demand for medical gowns. H&V is manufacturing the material entirely from its manufacturing facility in Easton, New York.

“We will continue putting our expertise in the manufacturing of advance materials to use for a wide range of applications while also doing everything we can to help those who are out there in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and elsewhere taking care of others,” commented  Crane.

A New Collaboration: Midwest Textiles and H&V Partner Up ~ H&V Introduces Nanoweb® FM

Comments Off on A New Collaboration: Midwest Textiles and H&V Partner Up ~ H&V Introduces Nanoweb® FM

Midwest Textiles and Hollingsworth & Vose Partner Up to Sell Ready-to-Sew Face Mask Kits and Nanoweb® FM for the General Public

East Walpole, MA – May 1, 2020 – Midwest Textiles and Hollingsworth & Vose (H&V) are collaborating on a new ready-to-sew face mask kit for the general public. The new collaboration between Midwest and H&V offers an improvement to the everyday consumer by adding a layer of Nanoweb® FM to the mask.

On April 3, the Centers for Disease Control issued new guidance to encourage the general public to wear “cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain” in order to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.  Since then, several cities and states have added local mandates requiring residents to wear face coverings in public.

Nanoweb® FM is new filtration media made by H&V, designed for use in homemade face masks.  Importantly, this new media will not negatively affect the supply of respiratory protective equipment required by healthcare workers and other medical first responders.

“This relationship brings together H&V’s knowledge and experience in the filtration industry with Midwest’s ability to reach the individual consumer. We are pleased to offer this new mask kit.”

“H&V is one of the world’s leading producers of filtration media for face masks and many other filtration applications. By partnering with Midwest, and through the development of Nanoweb® FM media, we are able to help support individuals and communities across the country that are struggling to obtain basic levels of protection,” said Mike Clark, Division President at H&V. “Our new Nanoweb® FM media was designed specifically for general use in homemade face masks, and can be inserted in a face mask pocket or stitched into a disposable pleated mask.”

Consumers can purchase ready-to-sew face mask kits and Nanoweb® FM media for homemade masks at www.sitnsewfabrics.com. One kit containing 4 masks will cost $24.95, and it is estimated to take 15 minutes to sew and assemble each mask.

For wholesale opportunities and businesses interested in purchasing roll goods of Nanoweb® FM, please visit www.midwest-textiles.com or call (800) 570-5040.

Masks made from the Midwest kits are not surgical masks or filtering facepiece respirators.  They are not recommended for use (1) in any surgical setting or where significant exposure to liquid, bodily or other hazardous fluids may be expected; (2) in a clinical setting where the infection risk level through inhalation exposure is high; or (3) in the presence of a high intensity heat source or flammable gas.
