FLOYD, Va. – Hollingsworth & Vose (H&V) announced yesterday the completion of a $40+ million expansion of one of its manufacturing plants in Floyd, coinciding with the company’s 50th anniversary in the community. H&V, a global advanced materials company headquartered in Massachusetts, operates two manufacturing plants and an R&D Center of Excellence in Floyd.
At a ribbon-cutting ceremony, H&V CEO Josh Ayer noted the expanded facility and the new capabilities it brings: “Today we celebrate our 50th year in Floyd, our company’s first location outside of New England. This new line will allow us to manufacture cutting-edge filtration media here in Floyd for important liquid applications,” said Ayer.
Dr. Joe Allen, Director of the Harvard Healthy Buildings Program, also spoke to the importance of advancing indoor air quality through innovation. “Buildings are the foundation of our lives, livelihoods, and economy,” said Allen. “Clean indoor air protects our health, helps us perform better at work, and improves business performance. When I first met H&V’s leadership team, I was impressed by their commitment to excellence and improving lives through innovation.”
“We have an incredibly talented team here in Floyd that continues to develop the next generation of filtration technology,” said Vince Hatcher, Director of Operations. “We take pride in developing and commercializing advanced filtration solutions to meet the needs of our global customers. This latest investment helps us expand our capacity to deliver high efficiency products for use in large commercial buildings, hospitals, cabin air, and liquid microfiltration for food and beverage and biopharma.”
Congressman Morgan Griffith attended the ribbon-cutting and congratulated the company on its success, “H&V is a wonderful American story, with roots stretching back to the 18th century. They succeed by creating excellent products that meet customer needs. I’m excited that they are continuing to expand their footprint in Floyd and bring important products to market.”
Virginia Commerce Secretary Carrie Chenery toured the facility and thanked H&V for their innovation and investment in Virginia. “Hollingsworth & Vose’s expansion here in Floyd is proof of what happens when a community and a company grow together. In the decades since they came to Floyd, H&V has created good jobs in the region and a strong supply system for businesses across the Commonwealth. We look forward to continuing to see H&V grow and for more opportunities to be created here in the New River Valley.”
