H&V Is Doing Its Part to Fight COVID-19
When COVID-19 struck, it was only natural for Hollingsworth & Vose to provide a variety of critical healthcare-related products. As a global manufacturer of advanced filtration and battery separator materials at the front of the supply chain, we’ve been working for years with advanced solutions for cleanrooms, hospitals, commercial and industrial buildings, heavy-duty equipment and more, and we were uniquely equipped to respond to the crisis. It has been a responsibility and a privilege to put our expertise to work in this global effort, and we’re not done yet.
As an essential business serving other essential operations, H&V shifted focus to provide materials for N95 respirators, ventilators, medical gowns and hoods, and components for COVID-19 tests, as well as products for medical, industrial, residential and transportation filtration systems. Meanwhile, our battery separators went to support medical equipment and contribute to back-up power sources for emergency vehicles, hospitals and other facilities.
We’re proud of our response to the crisis and the incredible team who has worked tirelessly to make it possible.
As 2020 tested the limits of companies and individuals alike, we put our energy toward leading the way for the production of ventilator filter media, and we remained one of the top worldwide producers of N95 mask filter media. Moving forward, our challenge is to stay at the forefront of this fight against the virus.
In the midst of unprecedented demand for health care products and personal protective equipment, our own teams and facilities faced mounting pressure to produce as orders backed up. We understood the gravity of the situation and the role we could play in it. We mounted a plan to increase our productivity to meet the need for PPE products, especially the filter media used in facemasks, and we’re still continually looking for ways to improve.
Nationally and internationally, we’re expanding our reach as members of our team work to develop solutions to meet these critical needs for protective apparel and filtration components. Our commitment to innovation, high quality, and efficiency has served our customers well, and those values are helping us expand our medical product portfolio and deliver essential items where they’re needed most.
At H&V, we’re committed to doing our part to address the threat of COVID-19. We know this will continue to require us to be innovative and adaptable, and we’re ready to pivot as needed to best serve the many health care workers and citizens who rely on masks, protective apparel and filtration solutions for their safety. With centuries of experience behind us, we know what it means to adapt with changing times and demands, and we’re ready to meet any new challenges that arise this year and beyond.
See below for a letter from Val Hollingsworth, President and CEO of Hollingsworth & Vose, for more information about our commitment to this cause, or contact us with any questions you have about advanced filtration media, battery separators and how we can help.
As a global manufacturer of advanced materials for filtration and battery separator materials, H&V provides products that are critical to responding to the COVID-19 (the coronavirus) emergency.
H&V is at the front end of the supply chain for several critical healthcare-related materials, including filtration media for N95 respirators, ventilator filtration media, materials used in the production of medical gowns & surgical hoods, and consumables for COVID-19 test systems. H&V also supplies our products into other air filtration applications in medical, industrial, residential, and transportation settings. Our battery separator materials are being used in batteries which support life-critical medical equipment and first responder vehicles, as well as emergency backup power for telecommunications, hospitals, and data center infrastructure. This power is critical for hospitals, governments, and financial institutions.
As an essential business, our intent is to continue to supply our customer base, and through them, the many important first responders, healthcare workers, and institutions who rely on their products. Many governments are issuing orders relating to the operation of essential and non-essential businesses, and H&V is complying with all orders from these officials.
Safety is Our First Priority
In ordinary – and extraordinary – times, H&V’s first Guiding Principle remains the same: Work safely and look out for each other.
The safety of our employees and the communities in which they work is the highest priority for H&V. Because we are a global company, we feel a deep responsibility to respond as best as we can to the global threat of COVID-19.
H&V is following CDC guidance in order to slow the spread of the virus. We have instituted enhanced, continuous disinfecting procedures in our facilities, and we are instructing our employees on best practices for limiting the spread, in keeping with CDC guidance. We also evaluate the situation at each of our manufacturing facilities on a daily basis and respond accordingly.
All office-based employees are working from home, and site visitation has been restricted to those whose presence is essential to our work. We have also instituted strict business-related travel restrictions and return-to-work protocols for all employees who are returning from any illness or travel.
We encourage existing customers to work with their normal H&V sales and distribution representatives to source filtration media, and we ask prospective customers to introduce themselves through H&V’s normal sales channels.
I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to our employees, customers and suppliers as we work together in the effort to provide products needed to support the response to the COVID-19 emergency. As there is more information that may be helpful to you, I will update this message.
