Liquid Filtration

Many industrial processes rely on fluids that can easily become contaminated with unwanted solids at various stages. These contaminants can affect the efficiency of processes and damage the processing equipment, both of which can negatively impact the facility’s bottom line. For these reasons, industry professionals often incorporate liquid filtration systems in their process lines. Liquid filtration systems utilize porous materials to collect and remove unwanted solid particles from a fluid stream. The porous materials—also known as filter media—come in three main variations: mechanical, chemical, and biological. Each offers unique advantages that make it suitable for different filtration applications. Looking for filter media you can trust in your most critical liquid filtration applications? Hollingsworth & Vose (H& V) has got you covered! We have an extensive selection of advanced materials that offer superior performance in demanding environments. They can be used to filter a variety of liquids, including fuel, fuel/water, hydraulic fluids, lube/oil, process fluids/water, and urea.

Whether you are working with bio-fuel, diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, kerosene, or something else, we can provide a fuel filtration media solution that meets your needs. In addition to our broad range of standard media, we offer custom product capabilities for highly specialized applications. All of our fuel filtration media products meet and/or exceed any necessary industry specifications and standards.

Our fuel filtration media is engineered with durability and consistency in mind. As a result, these products reliably protect engine components from particulates and water, resulting in extended service life and reduced maintenance costs. While they are generally designed for use in on-highway, off-road, and other industrial applications, special grades are available that address specific market needs (e.g., biofuel compatibility and fuel quality).

Fuel Water Separation

Coalescer filters are engineered to remove water from petroleum-based liquids (e.g., diesel, jet fuel, and hydraulic fluid). This process ensures equipment that runs on these liquids (e.g., cars and planes) can perform properly.

Our fuel/water separation media products are made from a combination of borosilicate microfiberglass and 100% synthetic, glass-free materials. They achieve low ∆P, offer good processability, and resist chemicals, fuels, and mineral oils. Different water/oil repellency levels are available.

In hydraulic systems, filters are essential. The performance of the filter can make the difference between properly running equipment and severely damaged equipment. That’s why it is important to choose hydraulic filter media that has been appropriately tested with the most relevant testing method.

We offer the highest-performing hydraulic filtration media in the industry. They deliver better particle removal efficiency, greater energy savings, and longer service life. Our advanced research and development (R&D) capabilities, diverse process technologies, and extensive understanding of hydraulic systems enable us to deliver the right media for virtually any hydraulic application.

Our lube and oil filtration media are engineered to withstand harsh conditions, including exposure to acids, sludge, soot, water, and temperatures over 150° C. This durability enables them to consistently remove contaminants over extended service intervals without loss of performance. As a result, they extend the life of oil and minimize the impact of unwanted particles on equipment.

Process Fluids and Water

We offer a liquid filtration media for a range of industrial and commercial applications, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Residential and municipal drinking water processing
  • Wastewater processing
  • Desalination
  • Biomedical manufacturing
  • Food and beverage production
  • Gas process
  • Oil drilling and processing

For example, our Trupor® filtration media products are engineered for microfiltration processes. They remove particles between 0.1 and 10 micrometers from process fluids and water through a physical separation mechanism.

Many engine manufacturers have turned to selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems to reduce emissions. However, these systems rely on diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) to function. Unfortunately, this compound is a combination of urea and demineralized material. As a result, it requires regular filtration since particles in urea can damage the SCR system.

Our team has developed a 100% synthetic urea filtration media solution. It is easy to pleat and highly durable, withstanding more than 1,000 freezing cycles without loss of filter performance.
